The Moldovan leu to US dollar pair went down an average 0.6% in June, to 17.9301 from 17.8235 in March. The drop was more significant towards the end of the month, when the leu depreciated by 2.7%.
According to the National Bank, in June, the rate of coverage of the net demand for foreign currency from businesses by the net supply of foreign currency from individuals was 97.1% compared to 89.1% in May.
Compared to the previous month, the net supply of foreign currency from individuals increased by 59.5 million dollars (+25.1%). Net foreign exchange demand from economic agents increased by 39.5 million dollars (+14.9%).
During the reporting month, the NBM did not intervene on the domestic currency market.
