In December, the Moldovan leu appreciated in average values by 1.3% against the US dollar to 17.6929.
The National Bank of Moldova says that the level of coverage of the net demand for foreign currencies from businesses by the net supply of foreign currencies from individuals was 95.3%, compared to 104.9% in November 2023.
Compared to the previous month, the net supply of foreign currencies from individuals decreased by 29.7 million dollars (-12.0%), and the net demand for foreign currencies from businesses decreased by 7.6 million dollars ( -3.2%).
The NBM intervened on the domestic interbank market through net purchases of 12.8 million dollars, amid a foreign exchange surplus in the second half of the month.
