Less than half of Chisinau residents paid heat bills for December

The level of payments for the heat supplied by Termocom in December in the municipality of Chisinau is now only 46%. During the previous two months, this figure was 70%, the supplier’s head Mihai Cernei said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Mihai Cernei considers such a situation is due to the larger sums indicated in the bills. In December, it was colder and the heat consumption was higher. According to Infocom, 20% of the Chisinau inhabitants will pay up to 500 lei for the heat supplied in December, 45% - between 500 and 1,000 lei, while 26% – between 1,000 and 1,500 lei. Almost 11,000 families received heat bills for the amount of up to 2,000 lei, while less than 1% - of over 2,000 lei. The sums in the heat bills for January are by about 50 lei larger. Mihai Cernei said Termocom still does not have access to the 63 million lei that was sequestrated owing to outstanding debts to Moldovagaz. Thus, the heat supplier cannot settle the payments to the thermoelectric plants CETs. The company managed yet to pay the salaries for January to employees from other resources. In this connection, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the October 1 deadline by which the consumers must pay for the heat supplied during the current heating season should be modified to September 1. After this date, the supplier will have the right to sue the consumers with debts.
