Two men held at Penitentiary No. 3 in Leova are suspected of committing over 20 swindles all over Moldova. The damage caused to the victims was estimated at over 300,000 lei, IPN reports, quoting the General Police Inspectorate.
The two suspects are allegedly active members of a criminal group. On the pretext of selling firewood, the group members placed announcements on a commercial website. Later, the victims had discussions with presupposed sellers and transferred money for the firewood to the accounts of these. Acting in collusion with persons from the outside, the two men achieved their goals.
Officers of a number of subdivisions in the morning of January 25 carried out simultaneous searches at the domiciles of the two detainees, who serve time for murder and burglary, and of their accomplices. In prisoners’ cells, there were found such banned objects as memory sticks, mobile phones, SIM cards and other devices used to commit the offense.
The accomplices were two women who managed the financial resources. The investigations go on.
