Ex-National Bank governor Leonid Talmaci was admitted to the Intensive Care Section of the Chisinau Emergency Hospital in the evening of March 4. The information was confirmed for IPN by the chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari, who said that owing to the worsening of his state of health and the impossibility of providing qualified medical care in the remand prison of the National Anticorruption Center, Leonid Talmaci was hospitalized.
On March 3, the Buiucani Court issued an arrest warrant for 15 days against Talmaci. When this period expires, it will be decided whether to extend the remand detention or to change the form of arrest.
The ex-government of the central bank was charged on three counts. He is accused of abuse of power, involvement in a criminal group specialized in swindles and of causing damage by swindle and abuse of confidence.
