Leoni intends to expand business in Moldova

Leoni Company, one of the largest German producers of parts and accessories for the automobile industry, intends to enter the Moldovan market by building a factory of electrical wiring. The announcement was made by Ion Lupan, head of department at the Ministry of Economy, Info-Prim Neo reports. Leoni is known in Moldova thanks to its subcontract with Intrascop enterprise, through which Leoni provided necessary equipment and training for 600 workers engaged in the production of electrical wiring. “It’s good to know that all the electrical wirings in class E Mercedes cars are made in Moldova, at Intrascop”, remarked Lupan. The factory Leoni plans to open will have 2000 workers and will be placed in the new subzone Straseni of the Balti Free Economic Zone. Other details will be made public after the finalization of negotiations regarding this investment project. Ion Lupan added that so far negotiations for 8 investment projects in Moldova’s FEZ’s had been concluded. The companies that will launch these projects in 2013 include: Gebauer&Griller from Austria, Eco Verde from Romania, Euro Yarns from Belgium, Taddei Engineering from Italy and a local company Marsharcon. The projects concern the production of electrical wiring, the processing of household waste, the production of synthetic fibers for carpets and of prefabs for cement and metallic constructions, and the building of industrial plants to be leased. Further, seven other investment projects are being negotiated.
