The heads of the institutions under the control of the central public administration, who will not perform their duties properly, may be dismissed. The MP of the PAS group, ACUM Bloc, Sergiu Litvinenco, has presented today, during a press briefing, a legislative initiative proposing new grounds to hold accountable the executives who will not fulfil their duties, IPN reports.

According to the MP, currently the heads of a number of public authorities, such as the National Commission of Financial Markets, the Competition Council, the Audiovisual Council, the National Integrity Authority, etc., cannot be removed from office because the legislation does not contain grounds for this.

Sergiu Litvinenco has also said that the former government passed laws by which the heads of these public institutions became irremovable, appointing their own favourites, who are now blocking the activity of the ruling coalition.

The MP has also mentioned that the same legislative initiative proposes to restructure the Competition Council and the Audiovisual Council. As to the Audiovisual Council, it is envisaged to reduce the number of members from nine to seven, while for the Competition Council - from five to three.

The legislative initiative will be registered today with the Parliament Secretariat.
