The Legal Committee for appointments and immunities, presided by vice-chairman Vasile Bolea, debated today, November 11, the draft motion of censure and how it's going to be examined. The Committee has agreed to present a consultative opinion in the Parliament plenary session.

According to Vasile Bolea, the Committee convened at the request of the Speaker of Parliament, Zinaida Greceanîi. The proposal to issue the advisory opinion was supported by six PD and PSRM MPs, who were attending the meeting.

After the meeting, asked by journalists whether the Committee is required to issue a report, Democrat MP Sergiu Sîrbu said that the regulation does not expressly require the Legal Committee to issue a report, however, the Committee has the right to present an opinion regarding the observance of legal procedures. "We only voted on technical matters such as the procedure and the deadlines. How will we cast our political vote in Parliament's plenary session has not yet been decided. Perhaps tonight or maybe tomorrow the Democratic Party group will convene in a meeting and will decide how to act and whether or not to support this motion", said Sergiu Sîrbu.

Asked whether MP Chiril Moțpan's statements are true, that the PDM and PSRM are engaged in secret negotiations, Sergiu Sîrbu said that the two groups are not involved in negotiations and that the statements are "a gesture of despair on ACUM bloc members behalf".

The Legal Committee for appointments and immunities chaiman, Sergiu Litvinenco, told the press that, according to the Regulation of the Parliament, a committee meeting is convened either by the chairperson or, in case of his/her absence, by the vice-chair. The meeting was convened by Vasile Bolea, vice-chair, even though the chairman was not absent. The Committee chairman added that the Regulation of the Parliament does not provide for the necessity to issue a Legal Committee report in case of motions of censure.

Asked whether negotiations were held over the course of the weekend with socialist MPs, Sergiu Litvinenco denied it.
