Parliament’s Legal Committee today unanimously voted to strip MPs Ilan Shor and Marina Tauber of immunity from prosecution. The matter is yet to be put to a vote in Parliament’s plenary meeting.
The four requests to have Shor and Tauber legally liable for prosecution were submitted to the Speaker of Parliament on May 19 and referred to the Legal Committee for consideration.
Per the procedure, the Prosecutor General asks Parliament to strip a lawmaker from immunity if there are reasonable suspicions that he or she committed a criminal or administrative offense; a request for the removal of immunity must be submitted for every suspected offense.
