Acting Prime Minister Iurie Leanca had consultations with representatives of the National Confederation of Trade Unions and of the National Employers Confederation, who formulated proposals for the government program. The candidate for premiership said that many things in the country must be changed radically, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

Trade unionist’ proposals refereed to the social partnership, remuneration, taxation of private individuals, insurance and social protection, security and health at work. The trade unionists asked working out of a simplified formula for calculating pensions, reducing the fiscal burden for private individuals on low incomes and not taxing the incomes lower than the minimum subsistence level.

For their part, the employers suggested reducing the number of licenses, certificates and other authorizing documents, de-monopolizing the pharmaceutical market, the insurance sector, the oil products and the banking system, combating disloyal competition and strengthening national authorities’ capacities in the area of competition.

Both of the organizations welcomed the candidate for premiership’s intention to entrust the coordination of the social dialogue on the part of the Government to the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for the economic sector, saying this will help deal with the identified difficulties.

Iurie Leanca underlined the necessity of taking drastic measures to combat corruption and to reform the justice sector. “In certain areas, we need new approaches. We realized long ago that we will be unable to achieve the expected results without an equitable judicial system. The effects of our efforts to fight corruption and to reform justice are insignificant. That’s why we must radically change many things in the country so as to have freer businesses and satisfied salary earners,” he stated.

Acting Prime Minister Iurie Leanca initiated consultations with social and political players for formulating the Government’s work program on January 30.
