The leaders of the three pro-European parties – the Liberal Democratic Party (PDM), the Democratic Party (PDM), and the Liberal Party (PL) – said they made a ‘radiography’ of the situation in the country in the new round of talks held on July 15. According to them, they haven’t yet discussed candidates for premiership and the distribution of posts, IPN reports.

The leader of the PDM Marian Lupu said after the meeting that initially they thoroughly analyzed the situation in the country because some of the parties can better know particular things, while the PL, which had been in the opposition during the past several months, may know less. The discussions were important as they needed to confer on the future government program in detail. “I can say that the discussions were very good and we moved on. We will have new discussions the coming days, possibly for several times a day, as the task remains the same – to form a majority coalition and to invest the Government by the end of this month,” said the Democratic leader.

The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said they thoroughly analyzed the socioeconomic situation in the country because they all need to know what to do further. It’s normal for particular disagreements to exist, but it is important to reach a compromise. A lot of work is to be done to improve the situation in the financial-banking sector. A package of laws must be adopted so as not to allow profiting from the gaps in the legislation.

“We have yet to discuss the issue of the stealing of the US$1 billion. The law enforcement bodies must work and punish those who committed the thefts. We insist on naming a person from the EU as prosecutor general. I hope we will raise this subject tomorrow,” said Mihai Ghimpu.

The chairman of the PLDM Vlad Filat didn’t make many statements. He only said that they exchanged opinions about the situation in Moldova and continued the trilateral discussions and he considers that they are close to signing the agreement on the formation of the pro-European ruling alliance. This thing is to be made public the next few days.

The negotiations to form a majority parliamentary coalition started at the end of last month. They involve the leaders of the PLDM, PDM and PL.
