Seven citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are abroad will head five excellence groups of the diaspora whose creation was announced within the pilot-project Diaspora Excellence Groups. The groups will work on public policy proposals and projects agreed in concert with representatives of the Government. According to the Government’s press center, a meeting to choose the leaders of the groups was held on July 13, IPN reports.
The authors of the program – representatives of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations of the State Chancellery – together with the Government’s Secretary General Lilia Palii and presidential advisers chose the following candidates: Victor Baiesu from The Hague, the Netherlands; Doina Ciobanu, California, the United States; Svetlana Cranga Janaudy, Marseilles, France; Dorin Dusciac, Paris, France; Ala Mandacanu, Quebec, Canada; Marcel Tabarnac, Bucharest, Romania, and Ian Vasilovski Toma, Virginia/Washington, U.S.
The preliminary results will be presented during the Diaspora Days 2017. The Diaspora Excellence Groups is implemented within the project “Strengthening the development capacities of Moldova through diaspora partnerships with the country of origin” that is financed by the IOM Development Fund and is implemented by the IOM Mission to Moldova in partnership with the Bureau for Diaspora Relations and the Ministry of Education of Moldova.
