The first thing that the leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon will do if he enters Parliament after the November 30 elections will be to denounce the Association Agreement with the European Union. He made such an announcement in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

Igor Dodon said he knows from opinion polls that 55% of the Moldovans would vote for Moldova’s entry into the Customs Union and they would also vote for the Socialists. He didn’t yet specify who carried out these polls. He also counts on the votes of the about 700,000 Moldovans who work in Russia. “I had meetings with the diaspora in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. They all want the country to join the Customs Union,” stated the leader of the Socialists.

In the same program, Dodon accused the Government of being coward as it refused to organize, at his suggestion, a referendum on the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU. The problem is that the government is afraid of the people’s opinion.

Igor Dodon also said that the party that he heads will not form an electoral bloc, but is ready to include persons who share the same ideas, especially as regards the entry into the Customs Union, in their list of candidates. “Renato Usatyi could also enter our list on condition that he pleads only for joining the Customs Union,” he stated.

Asked by the moderators about the sources from which the PSRM is financed, Igor Dodon said their resources consist of donations made by businessmen, member and sympathizers of the party. As to the participation of Russian singing stars in the electoral concerts of the PSRM, Dodon said they perform free of charge or ask for a much lower price than usual. “Why don’t you think that Iosif Kobzon, who is a member of the State Duma of Russia, can come and sing gratis to support us? Valeria and Oleg Gazmanov also come to support us,” stated the Socialist leader.
