German Chancellor Angela Merkel reiterated her support for Moldova’s European course, for the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and for the Government headed by Iurie Leanca in a meeting with the chairman of the PLDM Vlad Filat in Berlin, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the party, Vlad Filat and Angela Merkel discussed the political situation in Moldova and the regional situation. “The discussion I had with Angela Merkel convinced me once again that the Republic of Moldova has reliable friends and powerful supporters on its path to the EU and I’m sure that together we will manage to move on,” said Vlad Filat.
While in Berlin, Vlad Filat met with the President of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and MEP Hans-Gert Pottering, who will pay a visit to Moldova this autumn at the invitation of the Liberal-Democratic leader. The interlocutors discussed subjects from Moldova’s European agenda, the internal and regional situation in the context of the events in Ukraine and their impact on the political and economic situation in Moldova. They also analyzed the possibilities of extending the political assistance for stepping up the reforms implemented in Moldova.
