The draft law on prevention and combat of corruption worked out by the Centre for the Struggle Against Economic Crimes and Corruption (CCCEC) is good, but it has some faults, Lilia Carasciuc, executive director of Transparency International Moldova, said on Friday, March 24 after a sitting of the group in charge with monitoring of implementation of the national strategy on prevention and combat of corruption. She said that the draft law allows different interpretations and it contains unclear notions. It should exclude any possibility of different interpretation. However, she noted that the Moldovan legislation in the area is good, but there are problems related to its implementation and this draft law is a step forward. CCCEC considers that the draft law will contribute to prevention and combat of corruption and money laundering. The monitoring group adopted the functioning regulation, established the action programme that state institutions, ministries, services and departments will respect to report on activity against corruption and money laundering. Also, it discussed the need of more active participation of mass media in order to raise the awareness of public opinion over this scourge.
