The head of the Congress of the Moldovan Diaspora in Russia Alexandr Kalinin said particular persons want to use the Moldovans in Russia to promote their narrow interests. In a video published on the Congress’ facebook page, Kalinin warns that the Russian legislation stipulates harsh penalties for mounting unauthorized protests, IPN reports.

“Under the Russian legislation, the organizers and participants in unauthorized assemblies, meetings and protests who use political slogans are liable to criminal punishment. We understand that there are a number of problems related to the ban on entering Russia and to the halt in issuing authorizations, permits and licenses. But the temporary uncertainty must not affect the relations between Moldova and Russia, which were and are friendly,” stated Alexandr Kalinin.

The Congress of the Moldovan Diaspora in Russia is concentrating its efforts on preventing provocations aimed at destabilizing the situation,” added Kalinin. The Congress’ mission is to inform on time about the changes in the migration legislation and to offer assistance to persons who are in a difficult situation. Alexandr Kalinin added that only by communication the people will be heard and only by acting legally the problems will be solved.
