Vasile Costiuc, the leader of the Social-Political Movement “Democracy at Home”, which was launched on March 22, accuses Moldova's Acting President Mihai Ghimpu of misinformation and irresponsibility in his statements. Vasile Costiuc demands that Mihai Ghimpu stop humiliating the journalists and deriding the young people, Info-Prim Neo reports. The reaction comes after Mihai Ghimpu made comments on the new political organization. “Ghimpu was right when he said that Vasilica went to play the tipcat, but the “cat” will be the old political class,” Vasile Costiuc told a news conference held at Info-Prim Neo on March 24. “The sun rose, as Ghimpu said, but it rose for us, the young people. It will go down for most of the old political class.” According to the leader of the Social-Political Movement “Democracy at Home”, Mihai Ghimpu offended the entire journalistic guild when he said that they “go with the camera” “What does this phrase mean? Steal, destroy, privatize? During the election campaign, when we went with the camera and informed the people about the intentions of the Democrats we were good, but after they came to power, the journalists became 'secondhand',” said Vasile Costiuc, who worked as a cameraman at a private TV channel until recently. He also said that the journalists and cameramen exposed themselves to risks when they filmed the events taking place in the central square in Chisinau on April 7. He stated that Mihai Ghimpu does not differ from Ion Muruianu, the former president of the Supreme Court of Justice (who described the journalists as rabid dogs that become dangerous for the society – e.n.). “ “He differs neither by common sense, nor by intelligence,” Vasile Costiuc said, voicing hope that the press will take attitude to Mihai Ghimpu's statements (the press organized a number of protest campaigns in reaction to the statements made by Ion Muruianu and demanded that he be dismissed from the post of Court president –e.n.). Vasile Costiuc considers that the most serious thing is that Mihai Ghimpu offends the young people. “The Liberal Party (which is headed by Mihai Ghimpu – e.n.) came to power basing their principles on young people's messages, but now the youth do not have the right to get involved,” he said. “I invite Mihai Ghimpu to a public TV debate to discuss the involvement of the young people in politics and the principles of promoting the youth used by the present political class,” said Vasile Costiuc, expressing his disappointment at the developments that followed the coming to power of the Democrats. He also said that the young people can take over the power and can take attitude to the stupid and careless mistakes made by the politicians.
