The political crisis faced by the Republic of Moldova at present can be overcome exclusively by calling snap parliamentary elections, considers lawyer Ștefan Gligor. According to him, a first step is for the Government to resign following pressure exerted by the citizens, IPN reports.

“Only snap parliamentary elections. What is the method? The method is the people, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, the bearers of sovereignty who must demand that Mister Chicu should resign, while Parliament should meet the circumstances for dissolution. It’s simple. Protests can be also mounted if need be. We protested earlier too. It is not for the first time that our society protested, this time for a noble cause indeed and I see no problem here,” Ștefan Gligor stated in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

On the other hand, vice president of the Party of Action and Solidarity Natalia Gavriliță said that until eventual snap parliamentary elections, the MPs must reach a consensus for overcoming the current difficult period.

“Until then, all the politicians should unite and ultimately think about the people. We see that the pandemic is expanding and that the business entities cope with difficulty. We are facing an economic crisis and the economic decline will probably be close to 7% and it’s time for everyone to do their job and take decisions in favor of the citizens,” she stated.

Secretary general of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Ion Terguță made reference to the party’s attempt to dismiss the Government in the summer of 2020. According to him, if the Chicu Government had been dismissed, the Republic of Moldova would have been now in a different situation.

“In summer we told the people that there is an insufficient number of beds in hospitals amid the pandemic, there is a shortage of medicines, the economy was brought to its knees, we will not have a budget in winter and the current Government should be replaced in summer. Now we are in the situation when we depend on Igor Dodon,” stated Ion Terguță.

As a result of the withdrawal of the Democratic Party from the government coalition formed with the Party of Socialists and of the Democratic ministers from the Cabinet, the legislature remained without a majority.
