The defense, as the prosecution, will not yet make public the sentence in the case of ex-Premier Vlad Filat, Filat’s lawyer Igor Popa stated in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

“We cannot make public the content of the sentence because it represents only one viewpoint, that of the prosecution, and could cause a wrong perception in society. Given that there is no access to the case for the people to see what was done, the content of the sentence will not be made known,” explained the lawyer.

Igor Popa said an online communication platform will be set up to publish all the documents related to the case of Filat, including the content of the sentence. He tried to record by audio equipment parts of the trial, including Filat’s closing argument, but the judges every time rejected his application.

Asked what Filat said in his closing argument, the lawyer stated that this admitted particular mistakes, with the main mistakes being the fact that he had confidence in some persons, including Ilan Shor, who offered him presents on particular occasions so as to later declare that these were bribe.

The judges of the Buiucani Court didn’t read the content of the sentence in the case of Filat. They only gave by a copy to each of the parties, saying the sentence contains 271 pages.
