The commission of inquiry into the method of exploiting useful minerals seriously violated the rights of the joint stock company (SA) “Cariera Micăuți” (“Micăuți Quarry”) when it formulated its conclusions concerning the activity of the quarry without listening to the explanations of the quarry’s administration and without asking this to present the permissive documents, said lawyer Andrei Iosip, who defends the interests of Micăuți Quarry.
In a news conference at IPN, the lawyer said the public statements supported by MP Nicolae Ciubuc as the head of the parliamentary commission of inquiry are unfounded and denigrating.
According to the lawyer, Micăuți Quarry on December 23, 2020 received a letter signed by MP Nicolae Ciubuc as the head of the parliamentary commission of inquiry, by which the quarry’s administration was invited to take part in the commission’s meeting set for December 24, 2020, 08:30am, which was to examine the petition of company manager Dumitru Ciobu, concerning the allegedly illegal activity of Micăuți Quarry. The commission didn’t issue the quarry’s administration with a copy of the petition submitted by Dumitru Ciobu.
Andrei Iosip said that in response to the invitation issued by Nicolae Ciubuc, the administration of Micăuți Quarry informed that they cannot present themselves at the meeting of December 24 due to the late notification. They also informed that they don’t know what accusations were made by Dumitru Ciobu and cannot pronounce on them and asked to arrange a new meeting and to be informed about it in advance and to also be issued with a copy of Dumitru Ciobu’s complaint.
However, the commission held its meeting and, as Nicolae Ciubuc stated, this reached a final conclusion ascertaining that Micăuț Qauyrry worked illegally, which is not true, according to the lawyer.
Andrei Iosip also said that Dumitru Ciobu, in concert with other persons, in June 2019 started an illegal campaign to block the activity of Micăuți Quarry so as to obtain undeserved pecuniary benefits.
