Lawyer caught taking bribe

A Chisinau female lawyer on probation was arrested by anticorruption officers in the act of taking €3,200 marked ‘bribe’, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime was notified by a person from Balti municipality, from whom the lawyer requested money for persuading employees of law enforcement bodies to hold the given person administratively, not criminally accountable in a case.
Legal action was taken against the lawyer for traffic of influence. She faces a fine of 20,000 to 60,000 lei or two to six years’ imprisonment. The woman is investigated outside prison.
