Oxana Eșanu, the lawyer for Vitalie Perciun, said that she is intimidated into stopping defending the businessman. In a news conference at IPN, the lawyer noted that she was first the target of features with insinuations about her private life, which were disseminated by the pocket press of people that have direct interests in this case. Later, she received financial offers and also direct threats.
“I was even offered money, initially by calls through the agency of the underworld and later a person came to my house. All these moments were documented. I asked to stop those actions to offer me money, to remove me from this case. Yesterday, in the office of prosecutor Alexei Stăvilă, where there were also officer Valerii Țurcan, another lawyer and my client Vitalie Perciun, there was a confrontation with criminal Mihail Raileanu, who dared to threaten me in the presence of the prosecutor and the officer,” stated Oxana Eșanu.
According to the lawyer, Mihail Raileanu behaved as if he controlled the prosecutor and the investigating officer. “He showed that he knew details of the investigation, what happened, who was questioned, making allusions to evidence that not even we, as the defense, know ,” said Oxana Eșanu, noting the prosecutor and the officer didn’t even react.
Oxana Eșanu said that Vitalie Perciun is the victim of a raider attack aimed at taking his business that is staged with the agency of the law enforcement agencies. The first argument is the fact that he was arrested one day before a trial by which he tried to save a company from insolvency and which involved the interest groups of Vîlcu and Andronachi whose lawyer knew that Vitalie Perciun was to be arrested before the arrest warrant was issued.
The lawyer noted that an application was submitted to the European Court of Human Rights following the detention and abusive arrest of her client. “It is a registered complaint to the ECHR on my behalf as a lawyer and on behalf of my client. We hope that only through the agency of an independent justice system, we will obtain equitable justice in the case of Vitalie Perciun. The life of my client and of the members of his family is in danger owing also to the actions of the Prosecutor’s Office,” said Oxana Eșanu.
