The bill on the functioning of languages spoken on Moldova’s territory was adopted after being given a final reading. The proposal was adopted by the Socialist and For Moldova MPs. The opposition MPs left the assembly hall earlier, invoking the ‘toxic agenda’, IPN reports.

Under the bill, the Republic of Moldova ensures the conditions needed for using and developing Russian as a language of interethnic communication in Moldova. The Russian language, as a language of interethnic communication, is used on the territory of the republic alongside the official language.

The secretariat activities in the state bodies and the public administration will be performed in the official language. Translation into Romanian will be ensured at request. The official documents of the state bodies and the public administration will be written and adopted in the official language and will be translated into Russia, while in ATU Gagauzia also into the Gagauz language.

The state bodies, the public administration, enterprises and public institutions will receive and examine the written applications or verbal requests made by citizens in the official language or the Russian language.
