The Communist lawmakers received the full salaries for the previous month even if the law that deprives the MPs who do not attend the sittings of pays took effect on March 23. Head of Parliament Marian Lupu explained that there is no mechanism for implementing this law yet, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The mechanism will be approved by the Standing Bureau. There are a number of technical problems like who should record the absences of the lawmakers, but they will be fixed next week,” the Speaker told the journalists. The leader of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet considers the MPs wouldn’t have taken their salaries if they had had common sense. “I personally saw how protest leaders of the Communist Party came to receive the pays,” he stated after the meeting of the Alliance for European Integration. Under the law, the MPs who miss three sittings of Parliament or three meetings of the permanent commissions without reason during a month do not receive 50% of the salary and other allowances for the next month. 75% of the pay is cut if the lawmakers is absent from four and more sittings.
