Latvia wishes to help Moldova in its integration in EU

Latvia will support and help the Republic of Moldova with its integration in the European Union and will pass on constructive feedback on Moldova to the communitarian institutions, the Latvian prime-minister Aigars Kalvitis declared in a meeting with speaker Marian Lupu during his visit to the Republic of Moldova. According to the Press Service of the Parliament, Kalvitis announced he stands for the continuation of the EU mission of Moldovan-Ukrainian border assistance, and added he is pleased with the mission’s results. The sides confirmed their option for a peaceful solution of the Transnistrian conflict and stood for the resuming of the negotiation process, previously suspended by the Transnistrian side. The Latvian prime-minister also pointed out that Latvian experts are interested in learning the Moldovan expertise in issues regarding the easy access to the EU unique market, specifically the financial, banking, and product quality management fields. During the meeting, the speaker appreciated the strong political relations of the two countries. In this context, Marian Lupu mentioned the fruitful collaboration on the parliamentary front, and suggested to consolidate the partnership between governmental organizations of the two countries given the context of European integration for the Republic of Moldova. During his visit, the Latvian premier has also met Moldovan prime-mister Vasile Tarlev and the minister of Foreign Affairs and European integration Andrei Stratan. During this year, the Republic of Moldova has also been visited by the Latvian president and minister of Foreign Affairs.
