Latin-script schools in Transnistria to receive funds for modernization

Part of the funds allocated for Moldova's reintegration will be directed to modernize the Latin-script schools in the Transnistrian region, announced Prime Minister Vlad Filat at a meeting with Knut Vollebaek, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities.
According to a press release from the Government, Vlad Filat said improving conditions and the educational process in these schools is an important objective.
Knut Vollebaek presented a study on the situation of the Latin-script schools in the Transnistrian region together with recommendations on how to improve it. The official welcomed the Government's decision to simplify the procedure of approving education certificates issued by institutions on the eastern side of the Nistru.
Knut Vollebaek also welcomed the progress made by Moldova in areas related to the situation of the Latin-script schools, the integration of national minorities into society and the reorganization of educational institutions.
The meeting was also attended by Jennifer Brush, Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, and Elena Beleakova, director of the Interethnic Bureau.
