The members of the current Parliament will come together for the last siting of the autumn-winter session on December 14. The Cabinet will also attend the sitting and Prime Minister Pavel Filip will present a report, IPN reports.

After the meeting of the Parliament’s Standing Bureau, Speaker Andrian Candu said the legislature’s agenda includes several more issues and the current session will end with the December 14 sitting. “We will later return, at the beginning of next February, for the spring session, especially if there are emergencies. Given that the election campaign will be in full swing then, we will try not to come together during the election campaign so as not to use Parliament as a platform for debates and political struggles,” stated the Speaker.

Asked to comment on the Party of Socialists’ and the Party of Communists’ intention to boycott the referendum that will take place simultaneously with the parliamentary elections, Andrian Candu said the Communists’ decision was expected as the position of the leaders of the Party of Communists on the subject and the plebiscite is known. It is yet the party that decides how to behave.

As to the PDM’s proposal to work out a Code of Conduct for parties when the electoral legislation already regulates the activity of parties in the election campaign, the Speaker said there is an international practice showing a Code of Conduct for electoral contenders in the electoral process is needed.

As regards the previous statements about the possible impeachment of the President, who was suspended from office for five times, Andrian Candu stated the Parliament’s Legal Division prepared an informative note on the existing procedures addressed to the legal commission on appointments and immunities. The parliamentary elections are coming and the holding of a referendum on the removal of the President concurrently with the elections cannot take place.
