October 30 is the last day on which the electoral competitors can campaign before the presidential elections of November 1. They can also no longer make transfers to/from the “Electoral Fund” account, IPN reports.

The Central Election Commission warns that the electoral legislation bans campaigning on the election day and the previous day. On these days, the candidates cannot appear in TV or radio programs. The given ban does not refer to information posted earlier on the Internet or on billboards.

Campaigning on these days by the media outlets, electoral contenders and citizens is punished with a fine of 750 to 1,500 lei in the case of private individuals and of 1,750 to 2,500 lei in the case of persons with responsible posts or electoral contenders.

On the election day, the sale of alcoholic beverages within 100 meters of polling stations is banned. According to the authorities, the measure is imposed to ensure the proper conduct of elections, by maintaining public order, guaranteeing people’s security and preventing eventual disruptions in the program of polling stations.
