Over 51% of the respondents of the Public Opinion Barometer do not agree with the Parliament’s decision which cancelled the compulsory live broadcast of the plenary meetings on the national radio and television stations. According to the survey, less than 20% of the population agreed with the decision. At the same time, only a little more that 16% of the respondents said they always watched the meetings or rather frequently, 40% seldom and 37% never. The legislature introduced on March 23 amendments to the Parliament’s Regulations which say that the national radio and television stations are not obliged to broadcast live the plenary meetings anymore. The amendments were supported by the Communist and Christian-Democrat MPs and toughly criticised by the members of the other parliamentary groups. The Christian Democrat MP Gheorghe Susarenco said then he leaves the party in protest, stressing that one of the ten conditions imposed by the Christian Democrat People’s Party in exchange for reelecting Vladimir Voronin as head of state was violated.
