The demand for landline telephone services continues to decline. The number of subscribers to such services in the first nine months of this year decreased by 1.4% on the end of 2015 to 1.186, IPN reports.

The statistical data of the ICT regulator ANRCETI show the volume of voice traffic in fixed-line networks decreased by 12.4% compared with the corresponding period last year, while sales fell by over 90 million lei.

The landline telephone penetration rate declined by 0.5 percentage points to 33.4% of the population. The monthly average voice traffic per user diminished by 12.9% to 3 hours and 18 minutes.

The decline in total sales on this market segment was determined by the lower sales of practically all the service providers. As a result, the monthly average revenue per user fell by 11% to 62.5 lei.

The market share by turnover of “Moldtelecom” SA in January – September this year was 96.4%, while the cumulative share of the other 20 alternative providers was 3.6%.
