The first event to collect funds for modernizing the maternity hospital of the Chisinau Mother and Child Institute will take place on April 12. An extraordinary charity concert will be held at the National Opera House “Maria Biesu” in Chisinau. It will involve famous Latvian singer Laima Vaikule and Moldovan singers Tania Cerga and Catalin Josan, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Edelweiss Foundation for the Development of the Republic of Moldova.
Edelweiss and the Mother and Child Institute signed a cooperation partnership for modernizing the Chisinau maternity hospital, where about 6,000 children are born annually. The proceeds of the concert will be transferred to the Institute and will be used to carry out repair works and to purchase the necessary medical equipment.
The charity concert was named suggestively “Moldova, revive!”. The proceeds will be collected in a transparent way and the public will be regularly informed about the repair works executed at the maternity hospital
The partnership between Edelweiss and the Mother and Child Institute is based on previous cooperation. The objective of this new joint project is to modernize the Institute according to the Western standards and to ensure thus better conditions for the patients.
About 33,000 people are treated annually at the Mother and Child Institute, with 88,000 children undergoing medical examination there. Founded 31 years ago, the Institute records the highest number of newborns among all the national maternity hospitals. According to the Institute’s administration, the purchase of modern equipment and the renovation of the delivery and surgery wards are absolutely necessary for ensuring better conditions for the patients.
