Communication between Chisinau and Tiraspol is problematic and there is no clarity in decisions and actions. For this reason, the citizens on both banks of the Nistru River cannot get a clear and truthful picture of what happened, doctor of political science Alexandr Makuhin stated in a public debate hosted by IPN News Agency.

According to Makuhin, who is also the permanent expert of the debate project, the Transnistrian region pretends that nothing happens, while the local communication team is unconvincing and not very explicit. In this situation, the citizens are forced to get information from sources other than local ones.

"None of the negotiating parties is transparent," stressed the expert.

In the context of the social and economic crisis in the region, reintegration would be a lifebuoy for the citizens from the left bank of the Nistru.

"I believe that the basic problem is that the citizens on the right bank of the Nistru have wrong impressions about those on the left bank of the Nistru," Alexandr Makuhin noted in the context of the discussions on reintegration. The expert added that the lack of transparency in the negotiation process fuels prejudices and further distances the residents from the two banks of the Nistru.

The public debate entitled "Crisis in the Transnistrian region – an opportunity for reintegration" was staged as part of the project "IPN News Agency for Social Cohesion and a Pro-European Moldova", funded by IMS.
