The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family made public the main actions stipulated in the pension system reform conception, which are designed to reduce the inequities existing in the system by unifying the methods of determining the social insurance pensions for some groups of people (MPs, ministers, public servants, etc.) and exclude ‘special seniority’ from the public social insurance system, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry says the actions aimed at reforming the pension system are related to policies intended to increase the number of taxpayers and to stimulate the persons to work longer by recalculating the pensions of persons who continue to work after retirement. All the employees, including those from the police, defense and anticorruption bodies, will be obliged to take part in the social insurance system.

The actions with a social impact are aimed at amending the formula for determining the pension so as to ensure the interdependence between the social contributions and the size of pensions and to valorize the incomes obtained in the past. The recipients of old-age and disability pensions will get the basic pension.

An online pension calculator will be instituted in a move to increase transparency in the pension system. This will reduce bureaucracy in the system and will enable all the citizens to individually calculate their pension.
