Labor Ministry announces investments of 70 million lei in social services

About 70 million lei is planned to be invested by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection to improve social services in the Republic of Moldova. According to Minister Alexei Buzu, the largest part of the money, 50 million lei, is intended for specialized social services provided in social centers, 15 million lei for the social home care service, and 5 million for the “Mobile Team” service, IPN reports.

A sum of 50 million lei will be invested in 45 social centers out of the 93 that are under the management of the Ministry. In these centers, 136 services are provided for 2,400 beneficiaries. These are services intended for children who suffered as a result of the use of violence, children separated from their parents, people with severe disabilities, etc. Investments will be made in infrastructure, quality of services, expansion of capacities for the creation of new services and enlargement of the number of beneficiaries. It is estimated that in a year, the number of services will increase by 20%, while the number of beneficiaries by 25%. Services for children at risk will also be in the focus.

About 15 million lei will be allotted for the social home care service, which is available in all districts. Currently, the service has more than 13,000 beneficiaries, who are, in particular, elderly people, single person or people with disabilities. Within this service, specialists go to the beneficiary’s home and offer assistance in performing various activities.

An amount of 5 million lei will be invested in the “Mobile Team” service created in all Moldova’s districts y. The service is intended especially for children with severe disabilities and has around 900 beneficiaries. From the allocated money, equipment will be purchased for specialists so that they can carry out more activities for children in need.

Veronica Garaba, manager of the Placement Center for the Elderly and Disabled in Sadaclia, Basarabeasca, said that there are 20 beneficiaries at their Center now and 20 more will be accommodated after repair works are executed there. The investments will exceed 700,000 lei. With this money, the heating system will be modernized, the sanitary facilities and dining rooms will be repaired.
