The labor inspectors will have greater powers. The Government approved amendments to article
409 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, empowering the labor inspectors with the right to ascertain violations of the labor legislation and draw up reports over them, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga, the observance of the labor legislation and security and health norms at work by the economic entities, regardless of their pattern of ownership and organizational-legal form, is monitored by the Labor Inspection. More than 7,000 inspections are carried out yearly. About 60,000 violations of the labor legislation are discovered every year.
Currently, article 409 of the Code of Administrative Offenses says that reports over the identified violations of the labor legislation can be written by the general labor inspectors, their deputies, the heads of zonal labor inspectorates and their deputies. The report is drawn up at the place where the violation is committed. One zonal labor inspector who deals with 3-4 districts, has 5-6 inferiors and has relations with 5-6 courts of law in the administrative cases cannot cope with the workload and adequately implement the norms stipulated in the Code.
The measure is aimed at increasing the capacity for monitoring the observance of the labor legislation and at reducing the number of offenses.
