The de facto leader of the Transnistrian region Vadim Krasnoselsky said that Tiraspol will not prevent the residents with Moldovan passports from the left bank of the Nistru from participating in the presidential election in the Republic of Moldova and in the referendum on joining the European Union, IPN reports.
Krasnoselsky stressed that it is important for “the citizens to prioritize their personal safety,” warning of potential challenges.
He also assured that crossing the so-called border will not be restricted for those who wish to vote.
Thirty polling stations will be established in the Security Zone, in localities controlled by the constitutional authorities, for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who live on the left bank of the Nistru.
The opening of polling stations in uncontrolled areas, where “there are no guarantees of security of the process, nor certainty of the absence of external interferences that could influence the results”, goes against the legal norms, said representatives of the Bureau for Reintegration Policies in Chisinau.
