Know candidates in your constituency! No. 28: Chisinau municipality

Constituency No. 28: Chisinau municipality consists of a part of Centru district and of Buiucani district. The electors there will vote at polling places No. 28/1-28/25. The candidate who wins the largest number of votes in a single-member constituency, regardless of the voter turnout, emerges victorious.

The list of candidates on the ballot is headed by the Democratic Party’s candidate Democrat, Nicolae Balaur, an engineer by profession. The 32-year-old candidate is the incumbent head of Râșcani district of Chisinau. He was named to this post by former Liberal mayor Dorin Chirtoacă. Earlier, Nicolae Balaur was a member of the Liberal Party and adviser to Liberal MP Iurie Dârda, who own “D&D Companie” SRL. For the last two years, the candidate declared over 447,000 lei revenues. He received a donation of €1,000 and earned over 540,000 lei from selling property and almost 4,000 lei allowances. Nicolae Balaur owns only a car.

The Party of Socialists’ candidate Vlad Batrîncea, a jurist by profession, is under No. 2. The MP is a member of the Parliament’s commission on culture, education, youth, sport and the media. Earlier, he worked for SRL “Casa Covoarelor”. The candidate is the executive secretary of the PSRM, a member of the party’s Political Executive Committee and a member of the National Council of the PSRM. Vlad Bătrîncea started his political and party activity with the Party of Communists. For the last two years, the candidate declared over 324,000 lei salary and over 137,000 lei allowances provided by Parliament. He owns an apartment.

The candidate of the Shor Party Reghina Apostolova, a teacher by profession, comes third. She now holds the post of deputy mayor of Orhei municipality. Earlier, she served as a councilor on the Chisinau Municipal Council. Reghina Apostolova ran for the mayoralty of Chisinau in 2018, but was removed from the electoral race. Apostolova is the head of the Veterans Organization and a member of the Shor Party’s Central Standing Bureau. For the last two years, the candidate declared over 147,000 lei revenues and over 94,000 lei allowances and pension. She owns an apartment.

The candidate of the electoral bloc ACUM Platform DA and PAS Alexandru Slusari, a jurist and historian by profession, is under No. 4. He manages SRL “Rural-Asig” and earlier headed the National Association of Agricultural Producers “UniAgroProtect”. Alexandru Slusari is the vice president of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”. For the last two years, the candidate declared over 148,000 lei revenues and over 570,000 lei dividends earned from a company he manages. He also earned over 77,000 lei from entrepreneurial activity. The candidate owns an apartment, a car and a part of another apartment.

Independent candidate Dumitru Cebotarescu, a mechanic-engineer and psychologist by profession, occupies the fifth spot. He is the manager of ÎL “Cros Cebotarescu”. According to alege2019.md, Dumitru Cebotarescu is the co-owner of the Trattoria de la Nonna restaurants, the fast-food network Star Kebab, the Muzcafe cafes, the restaurant La Roma and the club Decadance. For the last two years, the candidate and his wife declared over 84,000 lei salary and more than 958,000 lei revenues. The candidate owns an apartment, three garages, two building and three cars.

The Our Party’s candidate Dumitru Chubashenkco, a journalist by profession, is under No. 6. He is the director of the  periodical “Panorama DC” and the vice president of the Our Party. For the last two years, the candidate declared that his wife earned 36,000 lei salaryand €7,000 gained from selling the parents’ apartment. Dumitru Chubashenko owns two lots of land, an apartment, a villa, a garage and a car.

The Liberal Party’s candidate Ion Cebanu, a jurist by profession, comes seventh. The candidate serves as a Liberal councilor on the Chisinau Municipal Council and heads the Liberal group on the Council. Earlier, he served as a minister of youth and sport and as director general of the Forestry Agency “Moldsilva”. For the last two years, the candidate declared over 278,000 lei revenues. He didn’t declare property.
