The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis got to Chisinau. At about 11:30am, he was met with bread and salt in the yard of the Presidential Palace. After the protocol ceremony, the two heads of state entered the building where they had tête-à-tête discussions, IPN reports.
A number of unionists came together before the Presidential Palace with tricolors and a map of Greater Romania to welcome the Romanian official. Klaus Iohannis greeted them from a distance.
Civic activist Vlad Biletski said the Romanian President’s visit is timely as the relationship between the two Romanian states should be rehabilitated following the removal of Dodon’s regime. He voiced hope that this visit will be a starting point in strengthening the relations between the Republic of Moldova and Romania. He noted that the units came with a map of Greater Romania, which symbolizes the common culture, language and history of Moldova and Romania.
Vlad Biletski expressed his confidence that their message will be heard in Bucharest as Chisinau feels a Romanian city. Also, by a letter to the Romanian people, the unionists thank for the assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova.
Maia Sandu and Klaus Iohannis will make statements for the press starting at 1.05pm.
