Kindergartens will be able to organize children’s nutrition through the catering system. It goes to early education institutions that don’t have their own cooking facilities or that have difficulties in preparing food. A draft decision to this effect was presented by the Ministry of Health for public consultations, IPN reports.

The authors specify that the organization of nutrition through the catering system at early education institutions will provide more opportunities to feed children. Children spend many hours at the kindergarten where they have most of their daily food intake. That’s why the quantity and quality of food and beverages served in kindergartens have a major impact on children’s health and well-being.

According to the draft decision, the catering company providing food services must hold licenses for both catering activities and the food transport unit, in accordance with the legislative provisions in the field.

The daily menu will be designed by the medical staff of the early education institution based on the model menu for 10 days, coordinated with the chef and kindergarten manager, in cooperation with a nutrition specialist, and approved by the local subdivisions of the National Public Health Agency. The daily distribution menu will contain the list of dishes indicating the individual portion according to the age group.

The ready meals will be transported in food containers allowed by the legislation to ensure the required temperature. Also, samples of all ready meals consumed during 72 hours will be collected and kept in refrigerators at the early education institution and at the catering company.
