Kindergartens in Chisinau will open new nursery-type groups

Beginning with the new school year, over 8 kindergartens in the capital will open new nursery-type groups. This necessity emerged with the increasing need for spaces in pre-school institutions, generated by the increase in birth rates in Chisinau. In total, 26 nursery-type groups opened in Chisinau over the past 2 years, due to the fact that their buildings were closed or rented out in the period 1990-2005. Currently there are 24 pre-school units which reached a 100% rate of institutionalised children. According to the Municipal Department for Education, Youth and Sports, a large number of non-institutionalised children were registered in the region which falls under the responsibility of kindergarten no.1 in Bubuieci town, no.101 and no.171 in Bacioi town, and 190 in Vadul lui Voda. According to the same source, this year 119 children were institutionalised in the capital, of them 90 pre-school children from the suburbs and 29 from Chisinau. The institutionalisation rate of children aged 5-7 in the capital is of 96%, as in the previous year. Currently there are 150 kindergartens functioning in full-mode in Chisinau.
