Kindergarten no.79 in Chisinau’s Botanica district will be reopened after a 13 years’ hiatus. After its renovation is completed on September 15, the kindergarten will be able to cater for nearly 180 children.
Visiting the site today, acting mayor Ruslan Codreanu told reporters the kindergarten is much needed as the other three operating in the neighborhood are filled beyond capacity. “We considered opening a new kindergarten an absolute priority. There is a residential project in development nearby, with several hundred apartments, and there will be many children. This is a very good thing, but we also must create conditions for these children”, stated Codreanu.
Botanica’s education chief Ion Musteață said the kindergarten was first opened in 1964 and worked until 1999. The building hosted a private school until 2007, but has since been abandoned.
The municipality allocated 8.6 million lei for the renovation. The kindergarten will welcome children aged from 2 years old.
