The meal costs for one child in the kindergartens of Grigoropol in the Transnistrian region represent 18 rubles a day, the equivalent of 15.48 lei. Parents cover nearly half of the costs, with the rest being covered by local budget allocations and Russian funds provided to the region in humanitarian aid. The Transnistrian news agency Olvia-press reported on its website that kindergarten children receive meals twice a day. Russian donations cover the costs of the breakfast, and parents pay for the lunch. Children from benefit-recipient families receive free lunches, which are covered by the local budget. The Grigoropol local administration allocated 2.5 million rubles, or 2.1 million lei, for meals in the on-going school year.
