The crèche-kindergarten in Tarnova village of Edinet district, which was opened in 1986, was extensively repaired with Romanian funds. The Romanian Government’s contribution was of 2.4 million lei, while the local community contributed slightly over 400,000 le, IPN reports.

In the ceremony to reopen the kindergarten after renovation, Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita said that his country fulfills the made promises. “We cannot help you to integrate into the European Union tomorrow, but we managed to bring a part of Europe here because the works performed at this kindergarten meet the European standards,” said the diplomat.

In Edinet district, 30 kindergartens benefitted from funds allocated from the Romanian grant. The allocations exceeded 14.5 million lei. To renovate and outfit kindergartens in Moldova, the Government of Romania provided €26 million through the program of technical and financial assistance intended for Moldovan pre-school education institutions.
