The kindergarten in Cucuruzeni village of Orhei district was reopened 19 years after closed. It will be attended by over 60 children aged between three and seven. Another 50 children younger than three will have access to early education services, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The institution was renovated with the support of the World Bank. The inaugural ceremony was attended by the World Bank Group Resident Robert B. Zoellick. He said that he was also brought up in a settlement where corn was being cultivated, as in Cucuruzeni. “The children I saw here are neat, obedient and fed on time. This means that the parents and educators provide special attention to early education. This is very important for the educative process and for the future of these children and the country in general, said the WB official.
According to Robert B. Zoellick, the economic situation in Moldova has improved. The country has great potential in agriculture, especially winemaking, and in information technology. “When I met with Prime Minister Vlad Filat Washington, I was impressed by the program of reforms initiated by the Government. I realize it is difficult, but you will succeed,” he said.
A resident of Cucuruzeni Viorica Munteanu, who is pregnant with the second child, said she was very glad that her village will have a kindergarten. “We thank the World Bank and other participants who helped renovate the kindergarten. We, the villagers, also lent a hand. I will tell my child who will be born soon that he has many friends,” said the woman.
The kindergarten in Cucuruzeni was renovated within the World Bank Project FISM-2 with support from the Catalytic Fund through the Education for All-Fast Track Initiative, in cooperation with UNICEF.
