The last weekend rain that continues today caused damage to educational institutions in the municipality of Chisinau. A number of managers reported leaks in the ceiling or flooded basements. A kindergarten remained closed today after the water reached the food warehouse, IPN reports.
“Of the 56 educational institutions affected by the rain, 44 reported leaks on the top floors. The roofs are flat and the drainage system has not coped with the large volume of water that has fallen in the past two days. In four institutions, parts of the basements were flooded. The most serious situation is at kindergarten No. 54, where the warehouse with food products was flooded. We decided not to open this institution today,” the deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sports Andrei Pavaloi said at the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services.
The kindergartens situated in the immediate vicinity accepted the children who could not be left at home. The administration will transfer the food warehouse to another space and tomorrow the kindergarten will open its doors.
