During about a year, more than 5,000 children attending kindergartens in
Chisinau’s Ciocana district have been fed three times a day with bread
made from flour of lower quality, from fodder wheat, a member of the
PLDM faction in the City Council Emil Gutu and the head of Ciocana
district Galina Bostan announced in Thursday’s meeting of the Council,
Info-Prim Neo reports.
The company that supplies bread to these kindergartens – “Maria Gutu” –
has won the tender contest as it offered a lower price than
“Franzeluta”. “The quality of the bread is very bad. Unfortunately, the
law favors those who offer the lowest price. Emphasis should be laid not
on the price, but on the quality and the health of the children,” said
Galina Bostan.
Besides bread, the given company provides the kindergartens with rolls,
ring-shaped biscuits and other bakery products. Galina Bostan said she
repeatedly demanded that the contract with “Maria Gutu” be terminated,
but the problem remained unsolved.
“The case with the horse meat did not teach the local public
administration a lesson. The bread supplied to the Ciocana kindergartens
is awful. One should not be a specialist to understand that the bread is
of a poor quality,” said Emil Gutu. The Liberal-Democrat council
stressed the issue should be included in the agenda of the next meeting
of the Council.
In Ciocana district there are 22 kindergartens. A new tender contest
will be held in Ciocana on December 20 to select the company that will
supply food products to the kindergartens.
