The Political Bureau of the Social-Democratic Party (PSD) has decided to deprive a group of persons of party membership after they announced yesterday, February 4, they were leaving the PSD to join Marian Lupu's Democratic Party (PD), Info-Prim Neo reports. The excommunicated persons are: Iurie Bolboceanu, Ivan Banari, Dumitru Godoroja, Ion Nicolaev and Vitalie Pascaru, who defected the PSD together with 25 territorial branches, reportedly representing 11,000 members. At the same time PSD's Political Bureau decided to dissolve a number of territorial organizations with the intention to re-establish them later. “The Social Democratic Party (...) will further concentrate its efforts to create a genuine political space, which will bring together persons who share the same values, unified through democratic methods of political competition, which is necessary for the achievement of PSD's goals – to get Moldova out of poverty and ensure sustainable socioeconomic growth”, it was said in a press release from the PSD. At the same time, the PSD's Political Bureau expressed its confidence that the latest changes will fortify the party.
