Key information on revenues and expenditures from the state and local budgets can be accessed online, on a new web portal launched by the Ministry of Finance - buget.mf.gov.md.

In a press conference held on August 6, Minister of Finance Natalia Gavrilița said that this portal allows easy budget data visualization.

"Transparency is one of the basic principles of our government and this portal represents a step forward in making information on public money collection and spending more transparent," says Natalia Gavrilița.

The minister said that one of her priorities is to ensure that public money is judiciously spent in the interest of the citizen. "For this, we will focus on two objectives: strengthening the role of financial inspection and improving the public procurement process".

Revenue and expenditure data from the state and local budgets will be updated every month.

The portal was launched with the financial support of the US Government. Dereck J. Hogan, the US ambassador to Chisinau, said that the elaboration of this portal shows the Government's concrete commitment towards the transparency and accountability of the governing process.

"All the citizens of Moldova will have access to key information regarding the national budget, but also the local budget. The portal is intended for all types of users. Taxpayers can see how their contributions are spent," said the US Ambassador.

Dereck J. Hogan assured that the US will work continuously with the Government of the Republic of Moldova "to create a dialogue in which transparency and accountability will contribute to a more democratic and prosperous Moldova".

Charles Kilbourne, executive director of the US Financial Services Volunteer Corps, which supported the creation of the portal, said that the institution he represents is committed to the Republic of Moldova, contributing to several projects that have consolidated various financial institutions in Chisinau.

In presenting the portal, Ion Amarfii, the IT company director developing the portal, said that the website allows graphical visualization of revenues, expenses, of the budget balance and visualization of annual reports prepared by the Ministry of Finance.

The buget.mf.gov.md portal was created by the Ministry of Finance and the Center for Information Technology in Finance, with the support of the US Financial Services Volunteer Corps and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
