The success of the extension of the Kaufland hypermarket chain is due to the firm observance of the legislation of the countries where Kaufland operates, including of the Republic of Moldova, while the environmental commitment forms part of the long-term strategy of the company, said Valer Hancas, Kaufland corporate affairs & communication manager, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the company. The reaction comes after Socialist councilors said the Chisinau City Hall cuts down healthy trees with the aim of preparing areas for paid parking places and other constructions, including Kaufland shops,.

Furthermore, the environmental commitment forms part of the long-term strategy of Kaufland and envisions the protection of the planet, ensuring of resources for the future and conservation of the optimal conditions for natural food resources,” stated Valer Hancas.
“On this occasion, we invite everyone on April 11 to take part in the initiative to plant 5,000 trees in Chisinau, which is supported by Kaufland, as the inhabitants of Chisinau deserve to enjoy a beautiful city with fresh air and a lot of greenness.”
According to the press release, Kaufland is among the largest retail companies in Europe, with over 1,300 shops in seven countries.
