The company Kaufland has launched the activities needed to start the construction of the first three stores in the municipality of Chisinau. Later the chain will be extended outside Chisinau. The company intends to invest over €100 million during the first three years of activity in Moldova and to create at least 1,000 jobs during the next five years.

The implementation stage of the investment project of Kaufland in Moldova was discussed in a meeting of Prime Minister Pavel Filip, Kaufland Romania director general Marco Hößl and director of the project in Moldova Dona Raqciuga, IPN reports, with reference to the Government’s press service.

Pavel Filip encouraged the administration of Kaufland to develop the project, noting that the coming of such an important investor opens the way for other foreign investors and makes local operators increase their competitiveness. As a result, the citizens only gain.

The Premier expressed his readiness to have a dialog, noting he is convinced that the problems that remained on the agenda of investors will be solved, including with the support and expertise of the Economic Council.

Kaufland is one of the largest retail companies in Europe, with over 1,250 stores in seven countries.
